Your Career & LinkedIn

With the rise of LinkedIn, has that caused us to compare ourselves to others more?

Do we feel if someone else achieved this “thing”, was invited to this event, got promoted to that level, or have disclosed they are making X amount, does it a level of self-doubt?

Sometimes, we see someone posting they accomplished something, and I think jokingly state it was for the fear of missing out, but, is there some level of truth to that for many of us?

Sure, the sense of accomplishment and pride to do more, be more, and get better, should not be diminished.

But if LinkedIn and social media was not around, would our focus change to those things we feel are necessary and directly related to our success, versus areas that we might be chasing that ultimately have little to no impact?
