Nip It In The Bud

Tired of recruiters wasting your time?

How about having a list of your requirements that you can send when approached by recruiters.

Your must haves, nice to haves, etc.

I think this could save you a ton of time when dealing with the mass amount of inbound recruiting emails you get.

I receive these from time to time in my reach outs and have a great appreciation for them.

“Chris, thanks for reaching out, here’s what I’m looking for:

A

B

C…

Does this opportunity come close to meeting those requirements?”

Simple, professionally blunt, and should be respected by the receiver.

If the position is a fit, great, if not, hopefully it nips the conversation in the bud from the onset.

And further helps the recruiter understand what you’re looking for in the future.

Obviously, this is not for those who need to be flexible.

But for the senior level talent who knows what they’re looking for, you might want to incorporate this approach, if you’re not using it already.

For the B-52’s fans out there:

“Oh, wo, oh, nip it in the bud.

No, wo, oh, nip it in the bud.”
