Experiencing Ageism as a Developer
In having a good conversation with a Sr. Salesforce Developer this week, he asked if he were to continue his career as a Developer, could he experience ageism down the road when he’s looking for new positions?
Versus going into management, architecture, etc.
My opinion was no, as long as he continues to stay current in technology trends.
Many companies want and look for a tried and true developer who’s been at it for years, as they have an appreciation for their passion and knowledge in software development.
I’ve worked with a few in the past, and they were great mentors, but at the time, I never asked them how they felt about their career longevity.
Any thoughts on this subject?
Maybe some of you have experienced, or thought about this when it comes to future employment.
