If you’re asked about why you’re looking to make a change, is the answer of: “I want to see what’s out there”, a valid response?

I personally think it could be a turn-off of an answer if an employer were to ask, as more details could be given. 

Even if it’s: “I feel I’m currently being underpaid based on my responsibilities”.

Or however you want to phrase it, if the answer is financially driven.

Then again, some may think that question shouldn’t be asked in the first place.

But it does, probably with a higher likelihood if you’ve had shorter previous employment durations.
