If you’ve been in I.T. for any length of time, maybe you’ve been told this by a family member, friend or even a client.
Possibly it’s been said behind your back when you’ve had to get up early or work late, or skip a social event during the weekend, or take a conference call while on a vacation to handle an “emergency”, or hop on a plane to a client’s site for an important meeting.
Or others might not understand what you deal with to make the so called “big bucks”, they just hear software, I.T., consulting, programming, etc.
How do comments like this make you feel?
For most, I think they’re proud of the profession they’ve chosen, and these aren’t necessarily considered sacrifices.
P.S. Yes, this same thought can apply to many professions.
